Running gov. student party group led clash  

                                                                                               Bangladesh Police recovered 150 lethal weapons from Bangabandhu Hall of Rajshahi University (RU) a clash between two rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of RU unit centring establishment of supremacy on the campus.

        Police also arrested an activist of the student wing Awami League in a two-hour raid at the hall. Sources said, Shariful Islam group of BCL RU unit, along with 20-25 others attacked the activists of Nayan group of the university. Nayan's group is supported by Shuvra, vice president of the postponed committee of RU BCL.

        Sensing presence of police, the BCL activists hided their weapons inside the Bangabandhu Hall. Later, police raided recovered the weapons including different types of iron-made arms and some bottles of phensidyle from the hall.

        Officer-in-Charge of Matihar police station Akbar Hossain said necessary measures including deployment of additional police personnel were taken to keep the situation under control.

        The hall Provost SA Haider told journalists that the university authorities would not tolerate presence of arms on the campus.

BNP last night reviewed its stance on the caretaker government system, and the latest political situation against the backdrop of repeated calls from the ruling Awami League leaders to sit for talks to resolve the caretaker issue.
Party sources said Chairperson Khaleda Zia held a meeting with constitution experts and senior leaders of the party to finalise its latest stance on caretaker government.
Khaleda will announce the latest party position on caretaker system at a press conference tomorrow. And the party is also set to announce a road march programme, said insiders.
Khaleda will lead the two-day road march from June 26 towards northern Bangladesh, they said.
While leading the road march, the party chairperson will address around 50 rallies to build public support to her stance for continuation of the caretaker government system.
The Supreme Court recently declared caretaker system illegal but said two more parliamentary elections can be held under this system.

India's Congress Party president Sonia Ghandhi is coming to Dhaka on July 25 to attend a special conference on disabled and autistic children.Prime minister Sheikh Hasina invited her to attend the conference and she accepted the invitation, foreign minister Dipu Moni told the media on Tuesday.

Indian Congress party President Sonia Gandhi will arrive in Dhaka on July 25 on a two-day visit to attend an internal conference on physically-challenged and autistic children. 

       The four-day conference will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre from July 23.
But the inaugural session will be held on July 25 which Sonia will attend. She will also attend the panel discussion at the conference on July 26.
