The parents of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin say she vanished from her crib Monday. Now, police say they've made a very suspicious move.
The parents of a missing 10-month-old Missouri girl are no longer cooperating with investigators, police said late Thursday – an assertion the family quickly and firmly denied.

(CNN)-- A woman who identified herself as Ashley Irwin, sister of Jeremy Irwin, read a statement on behalf of her brother and Deborah Bradley, parents of missing infant Lisa Irwin.
The parents of a missing 10-month-old Missouri girl late Thursday indicated they are cooperating with detectives, counter to what police said earlier in the evening, a relative said.

"We have never stopped cooperating with the police. We've been cooperative from day one and we continue to assist the police with the investigation," the statement said. "The main goal has always been to find Lisa and bring her home. That remains the sole focus of the parents."
Ashley Irwin said the parents, who will release another statement Friday, wanted to thank police and the community for their efforts and prayers.
Kansas City, Missouri, police Capt. Steve Young had said earlier that the pair had stopped assisting police in the investigation.
"I don't have to illustrate how that affects the investigation," Young said of the development. "It speaks for itself."
Young, who said "our door is always open" to the parents, told reporters that there are no suspects in the case.
Earlier Thursday, the parents told reporters about how they discovered Lisa to be missing.
"She's everything," Bradley said of Lisa. "She's our little girl. She's completed our family, and she means everything to my boys. We need her home. I can't be without her."

He said then that investigators "really haven't developed any good, hard information that we can go forward with." Nearly 50 tips have been received through a hotline, he said, but not all of them have been pursued, as some of them have been vague -- a person calling to report a child seat seen in a car, for instance.
"I know everybody's hearts are in the right place, but that's not anything we can do anything with," Young said.
Police have conducted more than 300 "knock-and-talks" and searches of residences in the area, and more than 300 officers were searching for Lisa. There have been three searches of a wooded area near the family's home, he said.
"I promise you, if there's anything we think we can be doing, we've probably done it two or three times already," Young said.
An Amber Alert was issued for Lisa early Tuesday but has been canceled. "Although the investigation and search for Lisa Irwin continue, an active Amber Alert is no longer necessary in this case," police said.

 KANSAS CITY, More than 100 officers are searching for a 10-month-old Baby who disappeared from her Kansas City home overnight and likely was abducted by an intruder.
Officials are looking for Lisa Irwin who was last seen in her crib at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday night at a residence in the 3600 block of North Lister in the Northland.
Her parents notified police at 4 a.m. Tuesday that she was missing. According to police, that is when her father returned home from work and discovered she was missing.

Police issued an AMBER Alert a few hours later. Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young said the AMBER Alert will likely expire around 7 p.m., but police will continue to search for the baby.

Ten-month-old Lisa Irwin was last seen by her mother, who laid her down to sleep at 10:30 p.m. The child was discovered missing by her father at 4 a.m. when he returned home from work. The parents immediately called police.
An Amber Alert has been issued for the child and authorities are canvassing the suburban Kansas City neighborhood and nearby wooded areas.
"Hopefully the child's close and safe, but right now we're utilizing all available resources," said Officer Darin Snapp, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
The FBI is assisting in the investigation and authorities warned that the kidnapper may have already crossed state lines.
"It's very possible that this child could be in Kansas," said Snapp. "We're right on the state line."
As yet, police have no suspect description, no vehicle description and no eyewitnesses to the abduction.
"It's very frustrating," Snapp said. "We're hoping somebody comes forward and gives us the right information."
Police said the kidnapper may have gained entry to the home through a window in the child's room, which showed signs of tampering. "Somebody could have entered through the window and abducted the child that way," Snapp said. "We don't know for sure yet."
Police urged anyone with information about the girl's whereabouts to immediately call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.

Lisa has blue eyes and blond hair, is 30 inches tall and weighs 26 to 30 pounds. She was last seen wearing purple shorts and a purple shirt with white kittens on it, police said. The child has two bottom teeth and a beauty mark on her right outer thigh. Her parents said she also has a cold with a cough.
"I realize that some of these Amber Alerts involve parents or parental abductions, but we have both the parents here. So that puts us on a little higher state of alert," police Sgt. Stacey Graves said.
An officer at the scene told KMBC-TV that the child's disappearance was especially concerning given the fact that the abduction was reported by both parents.

Pakistan recently freed a senior al-Qaida commander who was also an Osama bin Laden bodyguard, raising concerns about the country's commitment to tackling terrorism, media reports say.
Dr. Amin al Haq was freed several weeks ago because Pakistani officials could not prove his ties to al-Qaida and because he is not in good health, according to an Afghan Islamic Press report cited by other news organizations.
Haq reportedly was detained in Lahore by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency in December 2008, seven years after escaping with bin Laden, the Daily Telegraph of London reported. Haq served as the security coordinator of Osama bin Laden's Black Guard.
ISI passed Haq, 51, to police Peshawar in northwest Pakistan before his release, a security source told the Telegraph.
"Amin al-Haq had been arrested mistakenly, therefore, the police failed to prove any charge of his association with Osama bin Laden and the court set him free," he told The Daily Telegraph.
Haq, a doctor, was a member of the Hizb-i Islami Khalis (HIK), a key mujahadeen group that helped defeat the Soviets during the 1980s, according to Mother Jones magazine. HIK also helped bring bin Laden to Afghanistan after he was ejected from Sudan in 1996. And Haq himself reportedly accompanied bin Laden in his escape from Tora Bora in 2001.

Californian woman (48y) was arrested for drugging her estranged husband’s cuts off his penis, saying he "deserved it," police said on Tuesday.

She tied her husband to the bed on Monday in Garden Grove, southeast of Los Angeles.

 The woman, who was in the process of divorcing her 51-year-old husband, medical emergency after throwing his severed member in the garbage disposal, said police spokesperson Jeff Nightengale.

"Officers arrived and located a male victim tied to the bed and bleeding from his groin area," he said. "The female, identified as his wife, had used an unknown type poison or drug in the male's food to make him sleepy.

"She tied him to the bed and as he woke the female cut off his penis with a knife. The female tossed the penis in the garbage disposal and turned the disposal to the 'On' position."

After arriving at the scene police untied the man, and seized a rope and 10-inch kitchen knife as evidence.

Underwent emergency surgery and was listed in serious condition, Nightengale said.

        Prince William and his team won the match after he scored four goals in the final game. His reward? A sterling silver and gold trophy, along with a kiss from his wife.

        Proceeds from the match go to a foundation supported by the prince and his brother that helps disadvantaged youth, sustainable development and military families.

        The royal couple has had included a meeting Hollywood's elite during an event by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on Saturday night.

                                                                                               Bangladesh Police recovered 150 lethal weapons from Bangabandhu Hall of Rajshahi University (RU) a clash between two rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of RU unit centring establishment of supremacy on the campus.

        Police also arrested an activist of the student wing Awami League in a two-hour raid at the hall. Sources said, Shariful Islam group of BCL RU unit, along with 20-25 others attacked the activists of Nayan group of the university. Nayan's group is supported by Shuvra, vice president of the postponed committee of RU BCL.

        Sensing presence of police, the BCL activists hided their weapons inside the Bangabandhu Hall. Later, police raided recovered the weapons including different types of iron-made arms and some bottles of phensidyle from the hall.

        Officer-in-Charge of Matihar police station Akbar Hossain said necessary measures including deployment of additional police personnel were taken to keep the situation under control.

        The hall Provost SA Haider told journalists that the university authorities would not tolerate presence of arms on the campus.

Although her intentions could not be confirmed independently, it was the first time such a young girl has been reported carrying explosives in Pakistan and could signal a disturbing new tactic for the Taliban and other militants.

She was arrested about 50 metres from the Islam Darra police checkpoint on the outskirts of Taimargara, the main town in the district of Lower Dir, where Pakistan in 2009 fought to put down a Taliban insurgency.

          She urged people not to take law and order in their hands and requested them to cooperate with police. “If you have any information, then pass it to the police but do not take law and order in your hands,”

          Thousands of Greek protesters surrounded the parliament building on Wednesday as a general strike paralysed the country and the prime minister held emergency talks on a controversial reform package.

       Riot police and barricades blocked approaches to parliament as demonstrators mustered in the capital, summoned by a popular protest group that has occupied central Syntagma Square for weeks after a similar mobilisation in Spain.

         Police said 20,000 people had responded to the call but media estimates raised the turnout to 40,000.

             Scuffles broke out at various barricade points and police made sporadic use of tear gas to push protesters away.
 
             Prime Minister George Papandreou began an emergency meeting with the Greek head of state, President Carolos Papoulias, after a government deputy defected on Tuesday, reducing the government's majority to five seats.

            "A national effort is demanded, we face critical decisions," Papandreou said ahead of the meeting in televised statements.

        "We will take the necessary decisions to take the country out of the crisis...(but) everyone must accept their responsibilities," the PM said.

  Police arrested Syeed Hasan Sumon, who allegedly tortured his wife Rumana Manjur, a teacher of Dhaka University, mercilessly 10 days ago, in the capital Wednesday afternoon.

         A team of detective branch (DB) arrested Sumon at Mugda area at about 2:10pm, Masudur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told the media.

         

         The alleged torturer has been kept at the DB office on Mintoo Road in the capital. Police officials are scheduled to hold a press conference in the afternoon and may produce Suman before the journalists.

         

           Sumon allegedly tortured Rumana, an assistant professor of International Relations at the DU, ruthlessly on June 5 at her father's house in the city's Dhanmondi.

         A case was filed against Sumon with Dhanmondi Police Station the next day.

       Police raided several places including the accused's Paribagh residence in the city over the past few days to arrest Sumon but could not trace him.

          More than 500 Indian soldiers have landed last week in the central state of Chhattisgarh, the nerve centre of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist).
        The government said the troops will be trained in guerrilla jungle warfare. More troops will be coming in phases at the training centre on 750 sq km in the forested area, about 300 km away from the state capital Raipur. Retired Brigadier BK Ponwar, director of the Counter Terrorism and Jungle Warfare College, said the soldiers have stepped into the Maoist territory only for jungle warfare training, not for anti-Maoist operation. 

       "Maoists will feel the heat of the army's entry in their terrain because the insurgents will have a feeling all the time that tigers have been positioned just outside their den."
           No immediate reaction of the Maoist was available on the presence of the Army in its citadel. Many doubt the necessity of soldiers undergoing training in jungle guerrilla warfare. It is likely that the army after training in jungle war will be deployed to root out the Maoist menace.
              Police intelligence reports said Maoists have advanced their strategy with formation of Golden Corridor Control Committee in different areas - create bases in urban areas, industrial belts. They have now sleeper cells in such areas. Suspected Maoist activists are mostly students. Yashwant Sumant, professor of Pune University observed that a fairly large section of urban youths finds politico-economic system stifling. Political authority is concentrated in the hands of few families.
   The presence of Army in the Maoist heartland has given a moral boost to the demoralized paramilitary forces. They have reportedly prepared for a large-scale operation against the red rebels, especially in forest areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and adjoining states.

Suicide bombing kills 34 in Pakistan

        34 people were killed in a suspected suicide bombing in the Pakistani city of Peshawar late Saturday, the latest attack since Osama bin Laden's killing last month.

       The bombing took place near a building that houses several newspaper offices as well as apartments. The attack occurred when a large number of people were dining in the nearby restaurants.

    

A small blast preceded a big one, which senior police official Banaras Khan said police suspected was carried out by a suicide bomber.

         "After the second blast, a fire broke out. Several charred bodies were lying on the ground while some wounded people were crawling away from the site," witness Naeem Ahmed told Reuters.

       Television footage showed twisted window frames, shards of broken glasses and fallen electricity cables strewn on roads as rescue workers were loading wounded men on stretchers into ambulances.

        Mian Iftikhar Hussain, information minister of the northwestern Khyber Pukhtunkhuwa (KP) province, told reporters that doctors had said the death toll was 34, "but it may rise as many wounded people are in critical condition."

Peshawar is the capital of KP, which borders Afghanistan.

Hospital officials said 100 people were wounded, 21 of them seriously. Several journalists and policemen were among the wounded.

       "As I arrived here, one of the wounded man cried 'please take me to hospital, I am alive'," another witness told Express television at the site of the attack.

        Since bin Laden was killed, militants have attacked a heavily guarded naval base in Karachi; killed nearly 100 people in twin suicide bombings at the headquarters of a paramilitary force in the northwest.
