Somali pirates release German-owned ship
Somali pirates have released one of its vessels after holding it for 70 days, a German shipping company says
The company Nimmrich & Prahm said Friday the cargo ship MV Susan K with its crew of ten was released and is now heading to a safe port.
The European Union's piracy mission Atalanta says the vessel with four Ukrainian and 6 Filipino crew members aboard was captured in April some 200 nautical miles off the coast of Oman.
Pirates from lawless Somalia operate off the country's coast, in the Gulf of Aden and also further south toward the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.
German news agency DAPD reports the shipping company declined to comment on a possible ransom payment for its vessel, which flew the flag of Antigua and Barbuda.
