Police Institute win school title

Middle-order batsman Arafat Khan set up the win with a superb half-century as Chittagong Police Institute posted a modest 228 all out before they dismissed Donovan for 223 runs with four balls still to play.
Medium pacer Rakibul Islam claimed five wickets for 50 runs for the Patuakhali outfit, but Chittagong Police Line Institute were always on course for a decent total after a 62-run opening stand between Shariful Islam (45) and Farhad Sarkar (26).
Arafat used the foundation and slammed 59 off 61 balls with three fours and two sixes to give their bowlers a good total to fight with.
Replying to the total, Donovan School were reduced to 79-4 before Monjurul Islam brought them back on track with a patient 60 off 104 balls. They needed only 29 runs in the last five overs with four wickets in hand, but the untimely dismissal of Monjurul, who struck four fours, took them out of the game.
Their last three batsmen added only four runs as the champions of Barisal division fell agonisingly short.
‘I am very happy because a team from Chittagong won a tournament after a long time,’ man of the match Arafat, a student of Class VIII and a fan of Tamim Iqbal, told reporters.
A total of 540 teams played in what is the biggest domestic tournament of Bangladesh with the champions of seven divisions and the Dhaka metropolitan team featuring in the final round.
Three-time champions BKSP were not allowed to play in this edition.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has a plan to select 150 players from this competition and groom them up for the future.
