Chinese leaders reassure support to building deep sea port in Chittagong
RMB 150 million to Bangladesh for the country’s socio-economic development, China has offered.
Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi made the offer when Foreign Minister Dipu Moni held meetings with them in Beijing today, according to a release from the Foreign Ministry.
This was in fact the first Foreign Ministerial level bilateral official visit to China since the present government assumed office.
Dipu Moni mentioned about the present cooperation of diverse activities between the two nations and invited China’s enhanced investment in Bangladesh.
The Vice President and the Foreign Minister of China raised the issue of the proposed Sonadia Deep Sea Port in Chittagong and assured that China would be happy to extend support in building a deep sea port in Bangladesh.

The Chinese Vice President observed that Bangladesh and China share similar views on many regional and international issues including climate change and food security. China would always be a partner of Bangladesh’s efforts to become a middle income country by 2021.
At the request of Dipu Moni,, her Chinese counterpart assured to ease the visa procedure for the citizens of Bangladesh. Both the Ministers also discussed the issue of setting up of Bangladesh Consulate in Kunming.
