5.9 magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Japan
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has struck eastern Japan rattling one of the areas hardest hit by the March quake and tsunami disasters.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says the quake hit at 8:31 in the evening local time about 110 kilometres east of Fukushima near the east coast of Honshu at a depth of 30 kilometres.
No tsunami warnings have been issued and there have not been any immediate reports of damage.
